It finally snowed!

Started this afternoon, kept up this evening, a quiet, gentle falling of white stuff, now over two inches thick. I never thought I'd be so happy to see the stuff, but I am. Squeeked under my feet as I walked home today, which means it's fairly dry snow.

(Streaks in picture are close-ups of snowflakes bungee-jumping. No, really. OK, fine, they're parachuting. Details, details.)

Yes, we have our fair amount here, and it's still falling. I checked the radar and the snow "system" is running circles around us, so perhaps we'll get a really nice pack of it. If it's sunny in the morning, I plan to get some pretty pictures. ;)

OOhh - Nice - and it gives everything that deadened quiet sound too.

Love the first snow!

Yay snow!
Earlier they were predicting that we'd have ice again :P but now that has disappeared from the forecast. We've been socked in for days, though... Sunday was a gorgeous sunny day with not a cloud in the sky, but Monday (BLUE Monday!) we were socked in again, and today, likely the rest of the week.

But snow would make being socked in worth while!

(I notice that it's snowing in Rochester...)

Tim, I look forward to seeing any pictures you get. Tomorrow is supposed to be a gorgeous day.

Mark, I love the muting, too. And I've noticed, more so right now, because storms and rain are noisy.

Alice, doesn't Chattanooga sometimes get some?

Sravana, your last couple of days sounds like ours.

Jeff, I thought that's what we just did. ;-)

Chattanooga used to get snow, but then along came Al Gore and his global warming. We haven't had a good snow in years, and I think it's even been a few since we had more than a brief dusting. So far this winter, we haven't even had that many nights when the temp has dipped below freezing.

Your winter sounds like our winter. Bleh.

No, we keep getting more, dammit! Though today it's 40º F so some of it's melting. Of course, it's going to sink below freezing tonight so it'll all turn to solid ice for fun driving.

Not much snow, Alice, but do you remember that very thick ice storm we had in Feb. '94? That was a lot of ice! over 4 inches of it.

I have to agree with you Keera, I am so happy that it has finaly snowed. Atleast now it isnt so freaking dark outside. But it isnt going to last *sigh*, there is rain coming in the near future.

Jeff, sounds like what we're planning to do. (As Pookie noted.)

Tim, 1994 is so last century. ;-)

Pookie, that's the way of our western winter: Snow, melt, freeze, snow or melt or freeze after that, rain like hell after that, then start all over. Keep going till April. But we may get a repeat of last year: 6 continuous weeks of sunshine and -2C (at least here in Bergen).
