Macaroni and no cheese

I found some genuine, bright orange and sharp cheddar in my local grocery store. I was looking forward to having some really tasty mac-and-cheese.

Instead, I made a discovery. One does not melt the cheddar in the microwave. It doesn't melt; it goes crispy and that doesn't melt, either.

Now I feel like Scarlett O'Hara: Tomorrow is another day. And I have more macaroni and more cheese left.

That's the saddest post title I've ever seen. :(

Well that's an interesting discovery! I'm glad you're taking it in stride. ;-)

Irony: It's amazing how petroleum makes up or is involved in even the simplest produces. No one ever mentions that!

Paula, sorry about that. Your comment made me LOL, though. :-)

Spark, I made a new attempt, letting cheese melt in pan I just cooked pasta in. Much better. Needs more cheese, though.

Chanpheng, I know you meant to leave that comment on my other post, but it is funny to think that petroleum is why my cheddar cheese didn't behave as expected.

LOL! Guess I had too many windows open at the same time! On the other hand, maybe the cheese is made of petroleum products. Gasp! Might even be made of asphalt!

Hmm... I think there are foods made from petroleum. Well, not whole foods, but various additives. Basically, there's a little bit of Vaseline in a Twinkie. I'm rather grateful I never like those things. But cow's milk, salt and rennet are good.

Well, it's cheese sauce, hon. Which means you got make a white sauce and then slowly melt some cheese in it.

Oh. Gawd. A sauce?!? I don't do sauce. (I obviously don't normally do mac-n-cheese, either.) OK, lay the recipe on me.

And then it ate my comment. And it's not sending me emails either. Feh.

Let's try that again: yes, a sauce, will post recipe to my blog here soon (this afternoon).
