A look at the oystercatcher eggs

I got a good look at the eggs just as the parent bird got off the nest for a minute.

So sweet!
I'm wondering how big the birds are... they look to be pretty large.

They are. About 50 cm/19.5 inches long. I'm sorry there's no sound. They have a high flutelike call.

Typical seabird call, in many ways, but if you hear a longer call, not this short one, it's rather melodic. The call of the Eurasian oystercatcher: http://www.cserkesz.hu/~szazs/egyeb/madarhang/Haematopus.ostralegus.mp3
