Paula, the whole bush is full of buds. I was so surprised and thrilled when I saw it.
Zuzana, it's a rhododendron, yes. There are over 28000 cultivars (says Wikipedia) with different blooming seasons so if you pick the right ones, you can have flowers almost all year.
A bilingual American in Norway, fascinated by photography and astrology and the weather. Subject to change without notice. Both me and the weather, that is.
Divine order takes charge of my life today and every day. All things work together for good for me today. This is a new and wonderful day for me. There will never be another day like this one. I am divinely guided all day long and whatever I do will prosper. Divine Love surrounds me and enwraps me, and I go forth in peace. Whenever my attention wanders away from that which is good and constructive, I will immediately bring it back to the contemplation of that which is lovely and of good report. I am a spiritual and mental magnet, attracting to myself all things which bless and prosper me. I am going to be a wonderful success in all my undertakings today. I am definitely going to be happy all day long.

Optimistic. :)
How unusual, is this rhododendron? I haven't seen a doubble bud and definitely not one that will bloom in autumn.;) How enchanting.;)

That's a pretty one! The leaves are just changing colors here but we don't have any flowers at all. All ours come in the spring.

Max, our autumn has been short and unspectacular this year, which is why it's such a delight to see the flowers. Get a rhododendron! :-)

I would but the soil around here is terrible. Lots of red clay that turns rock hard during any kind of dry spell.
