Looking north by northwest at 11:18 pm. We don't have midnight sun at 60 degrees north. We have midnight twilight. The pink blush moves from northwest to north to northeast. I love this time of year!
Midnight twilight sounds so lovely. In summer it is wonderful to walk in the cool of the night air. To get to do that and have one of my favorite times of the day at the same time? Sublime.......
My sweet, neglected readers! I had a great summer (hope you all did, too!), at home in Bergen, which was on its best behavior (that deserves its own post), and the job is working out (see what I did there?) just fine. Better than fine!
I've also renewed my creative spirit, and in a fit of impulse I installed Wordpress and started fiddling with keeraannfox.com. I'd send you all over now if there was any point to that. But not just yet. :-)
I have a folder in my mail application, labelled "surf" into which goes e-mails containing links to sites to read or explore later. Most of the mails are from myself to myself. Here are some gems worth sharing: It’s not what you plan to do that comes first, it’s what you’re willing to give up to make time and space to do it. From the Lifehack article Letting Things Go , which is a good read for us procrastinators. It touches on one reason we don't do what we want to do: We simply don't make the time for it. Somewhat related to the above is Merlin Mann's suggestion for getting a fresh start by replacing one project . Find something that gets you really excited and makes you feel energized and hopeful about the prospects in your life. Pretend for a moment that you can finally scratch an itch that you may never have acknowledged until now. [...] Excise something stupid, and undertake something cool. Some time last month, I was listening to a new spiritual podcast, and the speaker said that we can all heal ourselves and each other by stating, "I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you." Apparently, this series of four short statements healed all the patients of a psychiatric facility, simply by being uttered by a doctor while he was looking at the patient files. I was intrigued. So I googled the phrase and discovered it comes from a Hawaiian spiritual ritual called ho'oponopono .* I found a blogpost that described this "cleaning" process. I found an online article claiming that you can heal the whole planet with ho'oponopono because everything that comes into your sphere of experience is your responsibility.** I searched Amazon for books describing ho'oponopono. I bought Mable Katz 's book "The Easiest Way" .*** And her title may not be an exaggeration. After reading her short book, I have replaced my usual rit
There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer, and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted. They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, yet they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave. Before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the
