I wonder if that thing uses the census, or names published on the net?

The Norwegian statistics bureau (SSB) probably uses the Folkeregister. I wasn't aware there was something similar in the US, but maybe Homeland Security has everyone in its little black book now.

887,907 people with the name "Jeffrey." What I particularly love is that 99.83% of them are male, which means there are women with the name "Jeffrey" in this country. Hmm...

That's a good 1500 females. I'm thinking transgendered, nuns, and lots of parents with poor judgment and/or taste. Mostly the last. There is one other possibility: Somewhere on this planet, the boy's name Jeffrey is a bonafide girl's name, and they've all immigrated to the US.

That website is based on statistical estimates, not on a register like the Norwegian SSB. Still, it's interesting.
