Planning what to wear

Circumstances being what they are this year, I booked a trip for myself to Vienna and Budapest in July. 13 days of bussing and Norwegians and the occassional boat. Instantly, my mind turn to What To Wear For Two Weeks That Will Fit In One Suitcase. A woman's magazine announcing holiday packing advice caught my eye at the magazine stand. But I didn't buy. I've travelled before without stopping to do laundry, and most of what's in my wardrobe is already mix-n-match (I'm weak for dark blue). After pondering number of T-shirts and slacks for a bit, thoughts then turned to shoes. Walking shoes and other shoes. So into the shoe store I went... You know that feeling when you put on a pair and They Fit Without Protest? Well, these sandals did just that. And I know what they'll go with, too.

Hey! What happened to the pedicure???

;)

I'm always nervous about walking shoes - I NEVER know if a certain pair is going to fit well (or like hell) until I've worn them all day one day. Therefore I have several pair of useless shoes - ones that I can only wear about 6 hours at a time before they rub. It's a real problem in the summer, without the protection of socks.

Well, the pedicure was a while ago, now. :-)

I totally understand what you mean about shoes. There's no way to know for sure in the store. No hills, no prolonged use, so there can be surprises later.

Gundel's isn't mentioned on the itinerary, but now that you've mentioned it, I'll keep an eye out for it. Anything in particular you'd like to know?

Feed attempt now in progress. The things I do to please a man. ;-) I need to add you to my list.

['Now, why didn't I think of that before choosing "Republish entrie site"?']

BTW, what's with the British style of quotes? Ooh, deja-vu.

I love the shoes! And I know the feeling about slipping into shoes that feel soooo good right away -- it's a rare event (Birkenstocks were like that for me, though).

The trip sounds wonderful -- we talked about combining Vienna and Budapest for our trip this year but finally decided we wouldn't be there long enough for two such glorious cities, so we saved Budapest for another time.

Max, http://home.online.no/~kafox/blogfiles/atom.xml should now work. I tweaked and tried again.

Alice, I have yet to wear those shoes outside the house. :-) But that time's coming.

Max, re quotes: British write dialog using single quotation marks (‘’), Americans use double (“”). I remember wondering about that when I read British mystery stories as a kid.
